THE ORANGE CIRCUS BAND.jpg

The Orange Circus Band are a raucous full blooded Americana / bluegrass act from the U.K and Virginia in America. A unique co-operative, they're a family band that can include members of all ages from junior to senior. Bring your dancing shoes - they put on a brilliantly entertaining show - great playing, beautiful harmonies and boundless energy are guaranteed to raise the roof, warm the heart and encourage the biggest of grins. Concentrating mainly on updating traditional songs taken from the Blue Ridge Mountains, adding their own verses and arrangements in a way that transports the past into present, they continue an historical musical lineage in a fresh, exciting way. Beyond furthering the legacy of this Southern music, they have this past year begun to write their own material exploring a sound that comes from the Mountains of Virginia with musical influences from The Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Old Crow Medicine band and The Pogues.

THE 1930S

Saturday 21 September 13.00 - Riverside Stage

The 1930s are a Northern Irish indie-folk duo made up of vocalist and guitarist, Jonny Solari and drummer and vocalist, Andrew Cameron. Their edgy brand of intense and anthemic folk rock, infectious melodies and fixating harmonies has brought them a great deal of success in their native Ireland, and there's a buzz building for them here in the U.K. This year they have appeared on BBC television and have received extensive play on BBC Radio, amongst other stations across the UK.

Musical cohorts of cult UK artists The Earlies Anglo-American alt-folk band Blind Atlas recently released their debut album 'Kodiak Bear' to critical acclaim: 'country blues grooving to a Burritos beat, hints of Exile on Main Street, Calexico and Frontier Ruckus' - Classic Rock Magazine. They combine great musicianship with sweet harmonies and a set full of heavyweight songs that reference the last forty years of classic Americana, from Neil Young and the Burrito Brothers all the way up to Band of Horses, The National, The Felice Brothers and Ryan Adams.

HOUSE OF HATS

 Saturday 21 September 15.00 - Riverside Stage

HOUSE-OF-HATS.jpg

Brighton four piece House of Hats are all individually well respected players, having worked with Sting, Paolo Nutini and many more. Theirs is a beautiful, harmony drenched indie folk sound that mines a similar sonic territory to The Civil Wars. It's a refreshingly contemporary style with a sympathetic ear for the classics - Fleetwood Mac and CSN&Y's vocal compositions bubble under the surface. The band has just finished putting together their debut album with Grammy Award winning producer Pete Smith.

“@houseofhats your set was stunning, such harmonies. Stayed with me” - Zoe Ball Radio 2
“…the band manage to give the tracks depth and richness yet also keeping them light.” - Americana UK
“Certainly a band to watch out for in 2013” – MaverickMagazine
"Glorious harmonies put you in mind of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Fleet Foxes or another Someofitistrue favourite The Staves." – Someofitstrue
"Four very talented musicians, who are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with when combined as one truly stunning quartet." - Pop Fodder
"House of Hats are definitely a band to look out for. Mixing great musicianship, beautiful harmonies and heartfelt lyrics" - For Folks Sake

THE DOG ROSES

DOG ROSES NEW PIC.jpg

The Dog Roses are a high octane roots, Americana, country rock'n'roll band. A five piece based around drums, double bass, guitar, accordion, scorching fiddle and mandolin, they do for country and bluegrass what the Pogues did for Irish music - inject it with a huge dose of rock'n'roll. Great songs and fantastic players guarantee a seriously good time, not to be missed.

"This is what you get if you mix country music with west coast harmonies, indie attitude and the odd furious burst of vitriolic home-made punk" - CZine
