Illuminate Productions and Better Bankside was happy to announce that Rory More played live at the Tate Modern Cafe on Friday the 27th September. Another free and fantastic musical happening for MERGE festival.

Rory More
Rory More is the UK’s leading exponent of classic vintage rhythm and groove organ,
reminiscent of 1960s Soho and clubland London. His playing on his beloved Lowrey Heritage Deluxe organ takes the full gamut of a swinging black and white film soundtrack – visceral rhythm and blues, moody cinematronics, groovy jazz standards and out-there upbeat bossa nova. He has collaborated with mainstream artists and his recorded work has featured on film and TV.
Rory More's organ swings so much you just can't bear it. For the past decade this man has been keeping a medium profile, cultivating a sound curiously seductive and sonically odd-ball. It's a sound lost somewhere in the kind of places that only exist when you think about them; vaguely graspable moments immersed in dusty celluloid. Or the magazine photograph that depicts the scene that never actually happened.
A NOTE ON THE ARTIST
It all began with the uber organtastic loungsters Les Hommes – the retro moderne jazz exotica trio who swung their way around much of Europe in the early 2000s. Since then, Rory More has dug his own particular path through swingdom producing and releasing a superb series of solidly collectible 12s and 45s, mixing with the below-the-radar in crowd and becoming the organist of choice for top international acts.
Fast forward to right now and you’ll find him pared with Rumer in the startingly luscious sunshine folk-jazz-pop combo Stereo Venus – an aching paean of a group to the long lost days of west coast super melodic grooves.
2013 will see the release of the Rory More long player Lookin’ for Lazlo – a concept album of sorts, made up of lilting, gloriously sweeping songs, lush instrumental epithets and footnotes – all featuring a wide array of vintage sonics, carefully curated around More’s love of a well-built electric organ and its luscious tonal possibilities.
