A sculptural installation celebrating Bankside.
Artist: Marco Miehling
Where: Platform Southwark, 1 Joan St, SE1 8BS
When: 20 – 24 June, 12 – 7pm
Admission: FREE
Once outside the city walls and its jurisdictions, medieval Bankside was a notorious pleasure district. Although times have changed, it still continues to attract people looking for a cultural and creative environment. ‘I’m Falling Between Two Stools’ is a reference to Bankside’s heritage and the stages of transition it has seen. The exhibition consists of a site-responsive installation, sculpture and performance which offers an in-between state exploring movement and stillness.
Private view on Tuesday 19 June, 6pm - 8.30pm, rsvp@illuminateproductions.co.uk
Guildor Performance: Tuesday 19 June, 7pm
To coincide with the opening of Marco Miehling's installation, there will be a performance from London-based artist Guildor. His work seeks for balance between rigour and openness, research and sensitivity, coherence and contradiction. The aesthetics revolve around the notion of ‘the almost unnoticed’, which he developed as an alternative to the Western dominating shock culture.
